After a year-long absence, a young woman named Macenzie returns to her hometown for a memorial service. With her former life and close relationships fractured, a chance encounter with two travelers on a train starts to pull her out of her own self-imposed isolation.
So I can sort out some art and script stuff for the upcoming memorial scene!
Sorry, guys!

I fell asleep right after coming home from an all-day typography event with Tim Girvin and woke up recently.
So, uh.
The comic update will be up a little later today. I was at school for about 11 hours while working/participating in this event and was dead-tired by the time I got home, so the only thing I could focus on was my desire to sleep. Sorry guys! It'll still be a sunday update.

There might be a chance that the 10/28 update will be late this week, on account that I am going to be attending a sweet Halloween shindig this weekend!
I'm also starting to prepare not just the next page, but going several pages beyond that since we will be getting into the previously-mentioned memorial. I'm hoping to bump the art quality up more, but the tradeoff for that means putting in more time on the pages. I hope you guys will be pleased with the next section of this chapter, though!

For anyone that's curious, I've uploaded an image talking about my process when working on pages.

Hello everyone! I've added several pieces to the Artwork page! They're new to the site, but not new to me. :P Most of them were done over a year ago, though there is a brand new one from this year. Go check it out!
I've also done a walk through on how I did page 13, and when I get a chance next, I'll put it up on my deviantART page because the file is gigantic. When it is uploaded, it will be available as a link through the Extras page.

I've started updating again! I am so excited to get back on track for this comic. This is a story that I don't want to let go of, and I'm hoping that as I continue updating, it'll be one that people will enjoy reading.
In other news, the reason why I wanted to start updating on this date specifically is because Mac--the first of three main characters that we have been introduced to--was created 10 years ago today. Mac is a character that is close to me, as she was created during a time when my family was going through some very difficult events, and so when I started doing roleplaying and character building 10 years ago, I ended up finding an escape with her.
Realizing how old of a character she is reminds me of the first webcomic I ever read: Wicked Alchemy. Unfortunately, after the author's passing a couple years ago, the Wicked Alchemy pages were taken offline. What I remember though is how Angel Yates, WA's author, described Dominic as being one of her oldest characters. She wrote out how she still had "tattered notebooks full of stories" about him from when she was 12. At the time, I didn't realize the possibility of having a character stay with you from childhood to adulthood, but now I realize that is more than a possibility. It's a fact.
There is a new page on the site now titled Extras. Here, I'll be posting any fun things that relate to the story or to the characters, such as music or anything that has influenced me in getting Soldier Heart off the ground. I started things off with a list of songs I did to reflect on the past ten years of Mac's development as a character.

That is a certainty.
The page is in the queue right now.
The reasons why I'm waiting until then are still incoming, and they're still more personal/self indulgent than anything. Nonetheless, I'm still excited.
